Home with
a runway attached

Fly TX 42 is an aviation subdivision in Waller County, Texas, built so pilots can live with their planes. Homes sit along the taxiways, the runway is shared by the whole neighborhood, and the airstrip is part of daily life, not a destination.

Hangar at home

Step out your door, roll your aircraft out and go. No drive to the airport, no tie-down fees, no waiting on a line crew.

The runway out back

A private airstrip shared by the whole neighborhood, kept up by the people who use it and look out for each other.

Neighbors who get it

Hangar talk over the fence, breakfast fly-outs, and a neighbor who will happily hold the wing while you pre-flight.

Fly-In Life

A weekend,
the Fly TX way

The best part of living on an airpark is how ordinary it makes the extraordinary.

Wake up to blue sky

Check the windsock from the kitchen window. Is it a flying morning? It usually is.

Fly out for breakfast

Hop to a small-town grill a short flight away, with a few neighbors in formation.

Land and taxi home

Touch down, roll off and taxi straight to your own hangar door. That's the whole commute.

Evening on the ramp

Lawn chairs, a cooler, and the last light on the wings. Everyone swaps stories.

Around the Field

More than
a runway

Maintenance, fuel, balloons and a hangar to build in. There's always something going on at the field.

On-field maintenance and fuel

There is a maintenance shop on the field, and avgas is available during the hours the shop is open. The shop specializes in Rotax engine repair and is an authorized service center for SeaRey and Icon A5 aircraft.

Balloons

Balloons are a common sight early on weekend mornings. The field has a designated balloon port on the FAA master record.

Airfield Etiquette

Good neighbors,
good airmanship

A shared strip works because everyone follows the same simple habits. Here are the basics for residents and visiting pilots.

  • 1
Make your callsAnnounce on the field's common frequency before you taxi, enter the runway and when you depart or land.
  • 2
Eyes up, then rollLook both ways before crossing or entering the runway. Kids, pets, golf carts and cyclists share the streets and taxiways.
  • 3
Taxi like a neighborSlow on taxiways and streets, with mindful prop wash near homes and open hangars.
  • 4
Respect quiet hoursRun-ups and early departures are best kept to sensible hours so everyone enjoys the neighborhood.
  • 5
Visiting pilots, call aheadPrior permission is the courtesy of any private airstrip. Check the current field conditions before you come.
  • 6
Leave it betterPick up debris, close gates, report washouts or wildlife, and help keep the strip safe for everyone.

General courtesy guidelines. Replace with the neighborhood's official rules where they differ.
